If you’re a graduate of the Celebrating Men, Satisfying Women® workshop, then you know PAX Programs has been studying men for almost 20 years. We’ve learned volumes about men’s instinctive behaviors: what makes them tick, why men do what they do, and how to understand their predictable actions.
We teach this information to women so they won’t be surprised when a man does something a woman would never do, and so women can be more effective with men: in the workplace, at home, in relationships, in families. But there’s some basic information we don’t teach in our core workshop simply because there’s not enough time in one weekend.

We’ve learned that almost all men go through a predictable evolution in their behavior at various times in their life. We call the phases that most men experience Stages of Development. And we’ve learned, in studying hundreds of men, there are common, predictable behaviors associated with each of the Stages of Development.
Knowing a man is in a particular stage will tell you a lot about what you can expect from him:
- Why, as a young boy, is he so restless and often getting into “trouble?”
- Why does he wait until Friday to ask for a date?
- When will he begin thinking about a long-term relationship?
- Can you expect him home for dinner, or will he work late at the office?
- When will he be ready to begin raising a family?
- Is he going to be available to spend time with the kids?
- Will he be open to making big changes in your lives?
Because we’ve been studying men at the level of instinct, and instinct is embedded in our DNA, we’ve seen that almost all men have similar instinctive behaviors going through these stages. Does that mean that all men behave the same? Of course not.
What it does mean, is that if you know a man is in a particular stage of development, you can have a good idea about what instinct is telling him what to do. And that knowledge can make a big difference in what you do.
